Road Numbers - The January, 1943, Equipment Register (page 642) lists UP as having 500 boxcars in the series 474000 to 474499. These are shown as XAR type cars, 40’6” in length, with staggered doors and z bars used for automobile loading. A dozen "canned" road numbers are provided for the car ends and sides. Road numbers may be recombined with a single splice (per road number) to form over 200 valid road numbers.
