Lettering Guidance - Refer to
NYC Diesel color books (Nowak, Sweetland, Marre, etc.):
e. g., New York Central: Lightning Stripes by David R. Sweetland,
New York Central System Diesel Locomotives by William D Edison, C M Smith and H L Vail is an excellent reference to all NYC locomotives. A digital copy is available from:
NYCSHS Society (https://nycshs.org/) diesel book, and
George Elwood's fallen flags photo site:
http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/nyc/nyc-eng.html.

Photos - Prototype projects work best if you start with a photo of the actual locomotive you’re building. Check with:

Properly stored, these decals should remain usable for many years.

Nose Variations - In S-scale we’re blessed with a wide choice of F-7 shells. Unfortunately, as the photo shows, that variety brings with it variations in design, particularly number board size, location, and frame width, and even basic nose shape. These decals match the prototype, but you’re advised to dry-fit them to your model to simplify any needed tailoring.
